UK100 Lunch & Learn: A Breath of Fresh Air for Domestic Retrofit

On Thursday 2nd July, UK100 (in collaboration with WM-Net Zero and the INHABIT Hub) hosted a seminar in the Lunch & Learn series, titled “A Breath of Fresh Air for Domestic Retrofit”.

Watch the recording here.

Attendees heard from speakers across local government and academia about delivering warm, healthy homes through retrofit projects that target the improvement of indoor air quality. Prof. Rajat Gupta, our Work Strand 2 lead, posed the question of what is the impact of energy retrofit on indoor air quality, wellbeing and health inequalities? He highlighted the important role that projects such as the INHABIT Hub play in addressing the evidence gap to enable us to better understand the health co-benefits of housing retrofit, and to develop practical guidance for homes. An important point of conversation centred around the necessity to evaluate the long-term health impacts from retrofit, to ensure longevity and continued support for retrofit initiatives.

Alongside Prof. Gupta, the audience also heard from Councillor Abi Brown representing Homes England, and Helen Langley from Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, who shared perspectives on housing retrofit for net zero across national and local scales.
